"Secular Organizations for Sobriety" (SOS) program | 12 step program | Non-religious - GTAF - 11-14-2023

"Secular Organizations for Sobriety" (SOS) program. SOS is a network of autonomous, non-professional local groups that emphasize individual empowerment and mutual support. Here's an adapted version of the 12 steps from SOS:
.We admitted we were powerless over our addiction - that our lives had become unmanageable.
.Came to believe and accept that we could take charge of our own lives.
.Made a decision to live a lifestyle of sobriety and to engage in actions that support this choice.
.Made a searching and fearless inventory of ourselves.
.Admitted to ourselves without reservation the exact nature of our wrongs.
.Were ready to accept help in letting go of all our defects of character.
.Humbly sought to develop a new, positive way of life.
.Made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all.
.Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
.Continued to evaluate our behavior and, when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.
.Sought through meditation and self-reflection to improve our conscious contact with ourselves and to gain the understanding and courage to change the things we can.
.Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others who might benefit and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
